Question:
Which PERMASET Print Paste or Extender is best for my needs, and what do these products do?
Answer:
PERMASET® offers five mediums/media for mixing colours and for creating tints (aka reductions). A reduction, in this context, is a PERMASET ink mixed with the appropriate Print Paste or Extender resulting in an ink colour of reduced intensity or colour value. See excellent worked examples of reductions for PERMASET AQUA and PERMATONE.
Print Pastes and Extenders are available for each range:
- PERMASET AQUA® Print Paste is essentially unpigmented ink: it is a medium for diluting/reducing a PERMASET AQUA transparent ink colour and can be used as a base for mixing your own colours. PERMASET AQUA Print Paste is typically used for mixing colours to print onto light coloured fabrics.
- PERMASET SUPERCOVER® Print Paste is unpigmented SUPERCOVER ink. It can be used as a medium for reducing the intensity of PERMASET SUPERCOVER® opaque inks for printing onto dark coloured fabrics. It can also be used for mixing your own PERMASET SUPERCOVER colours. It has exceptionally high resin solids and thus exhibits great adhesion on fabrics made from both natural and many synthetic fibres.
- PERMATONE® Extender is an unpigmented ink medium and is an essential component of the PERMATONE® Colour Mixing System. Use of PERMATONE® inks allows you to maintain the organic integrity of ethically and sustainably sourced garments and textiles.
- PERMAPRINT® Premium AQUATONE® Extender is an unpigmented ink medium used for reducing the pigment intensity of PERMAPRINT® Premium coloured inks. PERMAPRINT Premium inks are designed for printing on paper, board, wood, glass, some coated metals and some plastics. PERMAPRINT® Premium AQUATONE® Extender is ideal for mixing your own PERMAPRINT® Premium colours including tints or reductions.
- PERMAPRINT® Hybrid Extender is a medium for reducing the intensity of PERMAPRINT® Hybrid coloured inks. PERMAPRINT Hybrid inks are water-based inks for screen printing heat sensitive textiles such as polyester, polypropylene and nylon.
